Samiul Ghani (b. 2003, Dhaka, Bangladesh) is a contemporary painter based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. His practice is rooted in the observation of the drama embedded within everyday life, which he approaches as a series of visual “snapshots” translated into painterly form. Ghani’s work encompasses both dramatic figurative scenes and contemplative landscapes, unified by a strong emphasis on narrative, composition, and color. Working primarily in acrylic on linen, with occasional use of oil, he constructs dynamic and often complex compositions that infuse his paintings with a sense of movement and emotional intensity. His expressive handling of paint evoke the sensibilities of the Old Masters while maintaining a distinctly contemporary and universal visual language.

Ghani’s paintings frequently draw upon personal experience, resulting in works that function as loose, interpretive depictions of his own life. Through the interplay of color and compositional structure, he develops scenes that are both intimate and theatrical, reflecting a balance between lived reality and imaginative reconstruction. He is particularly recognized for his ability to merge dramatic storytelling with painterly energy, creating works that resonate across cultural and temporal contexts. His engagement with historical influences is evident in both technique and thematic development, yet his practice remains firmly situated within contemporary discourse.

Samiul is a final year fine art student at University of West England. He has held multiple group exhibitions in Dhaka and Bristol. Among his important projects are Striving Man (2025–2026), in which he developed a distinctive approach to depicting the human body in motion, and Lillies When I Dream (2023–2025), a series inspired by the lilies of his country home’s pond and informed by the legacy of nineteenth-century Impressionism.
